Tenax targets Asian carbon fibre markets

Texprint’s double triumph in Paris
Paris - Wednesday September 16 2009 was a monumental day for Texprint. First, at its annual awards ceremony, Harold Tillman, Chairman of the British Fashion Council, Jaeger and, as recently announced, Aquascutum, presented the prestigious special prizes to six of the 24 British-trained new graduate textile designers. The presentation took place in the Texprint village of textile design show Indigo, part of the world-renowned fashion sourcing event Première Vision Pluriel, Paris. The prize winners each received £750 and the opportunity to showcase their work at Interstoff Asia Essential in Hong Kong in October.

Ingeo meltblown nonwovens now a reality

Baltex extends XD spacer fabric range
Ilkeston – UK based specialist warp knitter Baltex, has developed a range of novel warp knitted spacer fabrics using Coolmax Fresh FX, which have been independently tested at the University of Bolton and found to outperform other spacer fabrics in their comfort properties. The company’s new Coolmax Fresh FX fabrics, which were launched at this year’s Techtextil, are part of its wider XD range of 3D knitted spacer fabrics.

India hosts workshop on protective and FR textiles
Mumbai – India’s Ministry of Textiles and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) are jointly organising a workshop on ‘Strengthening-Government-Industry-Consumer Partnership in Protective Textiles’ here in Mumbai tomorrow. Senior Officers from Central and State Governments will address the delegates and over 100 delegates from various sectors like defence, police, security, regulators, state government, hotels, multiplexes and industry will be in attendance.

Fun Beachwear prints at Save the QueenArchival laces and embroideries as well as new fabric and fibre technologies generated excitement at last week’s Interfilière in Paris. While the show was noticeably smaller with fewer exhibitors and attendees, traffic was steady at those knitters known for quality and innovation. The Eurovet organization has not released attendance figures, but suppliers said they were pleasantly surprised by the attendance and were cautiously optimistic with business looking up for the third quarter.

ICES and DyStar Singapore to cooperate
Singapore - The Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences (ICES), a research institute of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), signed a Laboratory in Research Institute (Lab-in-RI) agreement today with DyStar Singapore Pte Ltd (DyStar), the local branch of DyStar Textilfarben GmbH & Co. Deutschland KG headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany and a leading German provider of products and services for the textile and leather industry. The DyStar research unit in ICES’ premises with an initial team of 6 R&D members, led by Dr. Roxana Barbieru, will be collaborating with various research groups at ICES.

Massif and Gehring ink FR deal
Ashland, OR - Massif Mountain Gear Company and Gehring Textiles announced yesterday that they have entered into an exclusive agreement to jointly develop and supply military forces around the world with a new generation of flame-resistant fabrics and apparel. Under the terms of the agreement, Massif will become Gehring's exclusive customer for new flame resistant fabrics developed by Gehring, or jointly by Gehring and Massif, for apparel, headwear and gloves. Gehring will continue to sell certain styles in its current line of flame-resistant fabrics to existing customers.
