TenCate advanced materials at Dutch motor show

Amsterdam - Three vehicles incorporating fabrics from TenCate will be on display at the AutoRAI 2009 motorshow, to be held in Amsterdam from 1-11 April. These are the KG-1 Concept from KesselsGranger DesignWorks (Eindhoven, NL) at the Dutch Design Lounge, the Go-4 Dakar off-road vehicle from the HAN University (Arnhem, NL), and the DUT racing car from the DUT Racing Team of the Technical University of Delft (NL).

Asahi Kasei withdraws from polyester business to focus on knits

Tokyo - Asahi Kasei Fibers is to cease in-house production of polyester and monofilament yarns and close its plants at the end of September 2009. With the closure of its polyester plant, the company will transfer production of its main specialty polyester yarns to Teijin Fibers Ltd., and focus on the development of business in knit fabrics for activewear, including athletic wear and swimwear. The monofilament business of Asahi Kasei Fibers, including both production and sale, will be transferred to Uniplas Corp., a leader in the field of monofilaments, effecting a complete withdrawal from this field by Asahi Kasei Fibers.

Basel Switzerland and Palo Alto, CA - Huntsman Textile Effects and Genencor, a division of Danisco A/S, have introduced Gentle Power Bleach, a revolutionary solution for bleaching textiles in a more environmentally friendly way.

Gentle Power BleachTM is a new bleaching technology from Huntsman based on a first to market enzyme innovation from Genencor. The new peroxide bleach system allows for low temperature bleaching of textiles at 65°C and at a neutral pH range.
